In Williston, FL

We arrived at Williston Crossings RV Resort yesterday, Saturday, approximately 1:00 p.m. What a neat little town with the RR running thru it. The resort is very beautiful. Haven't taken pictures yet. We got settled in. Met one of our neighbors that came from Ontario, 2 Hrs north. They have an aged Golden named Jessie which Jenny made friends with.

Coming down to FL we stayed over in Macon, GA, at a lovely Wal-Mart! Woke up with 3 RVers. We had a tremendous slow down as we got on the south side of Atlanta. It took us 1 hour 20 minutes to travel approximately 30 miles. Talk about tiring!! No problem...just traffic.

Going to check out the resort and activities today and travel to the Gulf.

Until then.....

Merry Christmas!

Pray all my readers have had a blessed and Merry Christmas today!

It was certainly that here in the Smith household today. The family (Chris, Paul, Katelyn and Shannon, Gordon, Chad, Cara and Cindy) arrived Noon. Our meal was simple but delicious....appetizers, chicken stir-fry, and oh, those finger food desserts. Yum, Yum! After eating, the grandchildren opened their gifts. We had our stockings packed full and fun to open one item at a time. While we were preparing for Dirty Santa, the grandkids went outside to shoot Chad's B-B gun. Then back to Dirty Santa which was played somewhat as an auction....nobody kept their gift but was able to get it back if they had money to buy it. FUN, Fun, fun!!!

It was sad to see everyone go, but blessed to have everyone in!

Our tree and decor is put away, RV is packed, supper over, and soon will close the computer and pack for trip to Florida. Jenny is excited. She always seems to know when that RV is going to hit the road!

Checked the weather in Williston, FL where we are heading. Can you believe it is showing 80's!! Sure is going to be tough weathering those temperatures. LOL

To all our friends and other family, we love you and hope you will come see us "down there"!

Until then.....

Trip to IN

Here we are in Clarksville, IN, at the KOA. Making a quick trip to visit with Mike's mother which we spent with her today.

Had lunch at a very famous restaruant "The Overlook" in Leavenworth, IN. Such perfect timing as we set in the restaurant high on a bluff overlooking the Ohio River. Christmas decor was lovely and the player piano was filling the rooms with Christmas music. Cardinals were numerous feeding on the open feeders. Snow flurries made the setting perfect. Not only was the home-cooked food delicious along with the homemade pies, but the view was breathtaking. Sitting by the window we saw barges making their was down the Ohio River at another well known spot called "Horseshoe Bend" of the Ohio. The river actually makes a horseshoe bend that you can see from where we set. So here we are sitting atop the bluff in IN looking over into KY and then beyond there back into IN.

It was a very relaxing time spent with his mother, sister, Ellen and her husband, Stu.

Last night, we arrived at the KOA and then drove to one of our favorite restaruants, Kingfish. It sits on the Ohio River (IN side) between 2 main bridges that take one into Louisville, KY. Excellent food and the night view of Lousiville is awesome!

We are leaving tomorrow, Saturday. Got to make it back so we can get to our friend, Joan Shoup's book signing in Hendersonville, TN.

Until then......

Turkey is all Gobbled Up!

Thanksgiving is over and now the Christmas season is upon us. Wow, time does fly! Hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving Day. We did. December will go just as quickly as November. Deadlines and quotas to be met.

The tree is up. Shopped just a little today. Just having a very pleasant and cozy weekend. Keeping our granddoggy, Shiloh, for a few days. Jenny is having a blast playing with him.

One more appointment with eye doctor (had surgery) and that will be over. Then will head out to Florida the end of December.

Looking forward to the holidays, Christmas and New Year. Anyone thinking about their New Year's resolution(s)? The year has gone by so quickly. Wonder what 2009 will be like?

Until then.....

Camping and It's COLD

Our Good Sam chapter, TN Sunshine Travelers, are on our final month of the year of camping in Clarksville. Boy, is it cold at nights!! Thank goodness we have a building, although we, the chapter, are heating it with a kerosene heater. But we do have the luxuries of frig, stove, and sink and do we have some good meals planned.

Thanksgiving is near. As the bible states that we should be thankful in everything. Have a blessed Thanksgiving.

Until then....

November is here, Oh My!

Mid-November....unbelievable! Since my last post, I have had eye surgery and had a pterygium (growth on eye) removed. Surgery was nothing, but, oh, the recovery! RED EYE and bit of swelling along with some pain doctored with ointment and 2 kinds of drops. Found out I was allergic to one of the drops...pain was pretty severe in the eye when applied. Oh, well, I am doing good at present time along with seeing "white" on the eyeball. LOL

Have already cut out fabrics for 2 different rag quilts. One of which is almost sewn together. These are for the motorhome use. Mike and I will each have a quilt to snuggle into and will be timely for our 2 months in FL.

Mike is staying busy researching a new product for the business. He is going to introduce the product to the salesmen next week. Our house will be the test pilot. Well, you are probably wondering "What is it!" It is crawl space encapsulation (enclosing a crawl space area) which rids moisture and mold. The southeastern states have more problems with this and will help with health issues.

Today has hit us with a "cold" front. Temps dropped 20 degrees and maybe, just maybe, we may see some snowflakes tonight/early morning. The weather people really get on the subject of SNOW in their forecast.

For those of you reading this, I just want to make a statement on a tip for life.... "Take time to smell the roses and see the beauty of each rose." Life is getting toooo busy. We need our timeouts and breathe in God's blessings on what He is doing for us.

Until then....

Finally Home and Gone Again

It's good to be home! Early Thursday, I took the RV to have the alignment and then killed 4 hours waiting. Actually, had a good time looking around Florence, AL. Got the phone call that RV was ready...3 Hrs later! Yeah!! Jenny and I left McFarland Campground where we were passing some time exploring the park and campground and retrieved the RV and left for home at 11:10 a.m.

Took the scenic route (stayed off the interstate) and enjoyed looking at the beautiful countryside! Arrived home at 1:55 p.m.....met Mike at the gas station...traded vehicles...headed for my 2:00 p.m. appointment!! Now,that is trucking or making some tracks, one!! Finally, got to pull in the driveway at 3:45p.m. and yell out the window at our little miniature donkeys and hear them bray back!

Quickly did some laundry and went to Krogers, as we decided to take off for the weekend and do some "real camping" with the campfire ablazing. Friday, today, we left 10:15 a.m. when Mike got home from work. We headed for Piney Campground, a COE, nestled at Land Between the Lakes, in Dover/Buchanan, TN area.

This is where I am now typing to post the blog. Weather is going to be absolutely perfect with 70's and low 50's through our stay which will end Monday. This is my kind of camping. Our site has some view of the TN river, known as KY Lake. I'm not sure if there are any families at this time. Just us older folks!

My cell phone has no connection, Mike's does, and my Broadband, with a different carrier, works. So here I am bringing all you great folks up-to-date and now I am going to finalize this post......

Until later......

In Tuscumbia, AL

I am now on the last leg of my trip. I left or WAS leaving campground at 10:15 a.m. when my satellite decided it would "do its thing" and go off. Naturally, it had to wait until the very LAST minute. So I got the guys to come check out the dish. (They had been so good about stopping by the rig on follow-ups.) Well, you guessed it, the dish (internal guts) had to be switched out. So at 1:05 p.m. I left the Allegro Campground heading for Tuscumbia...Heritage Acres RV Park...to spend the night.

Neat little campgrd. Jenny and I arrived about 2:15, unhitched car, set up, and left to sight see the area and find we were are going early a.m. for alignment work. Very neat towns: Tuscumbia, Muscle Shoals, and Florence. Even stopped at Helen Keller's birthplace but didn't go on the tour. Save that for another time with the grandkids!

The weather was much nicer today although did wake up this a.m. with heavy frost. Not expecting the cold temperatures tonight (low 30's).

Thursday will be heading home! I am going to take the scenic route (not interstate). Hopefully, the alignment won't take very long.

Until then.....

Still in Red Bay

Here it is Tuesday night and I must say it is good news for me to write this. I am heading home Wednesday...well, starting my way home!

I waited Monday for my call to head to express Bay. It didn't come. I waited til late a.m. today and with no call, I headed to the office to inquire. Good thing I did. I was able to discuss my situation with a plea. Mission accomplished. After hours, I went into finalize repairs. Tomorrow I head in the direction of home with a stop in Florence area to have the alignment done. However, that will be early, early Thursday morning. Will spend the night in the town.

Jenny seems to be restless. Guess she is sensing my stress and anxiousness.

Will be good to write next time and say I am HOME!

Until then....

Red Bay Stay - Tiffins/Allegro

I arrived at Red Bay on 10/19 to have some "punch list" items taken care of before warranty ends. I have given myself 2 wks since I will be on waiting list for Express Bay work. When I arrived approx. 1:30 p.m., the campground was full and only dry camping available. No Problem! By the end of the evening, there were about 20 of us rigs dry camping. That meant those in the campgrd sites were ahead of me!! Oh, boy! I did enjoy the drive to Red Bay. Jenny slept most of the way.
After unhitching the car, Jenny and I went for a walk thru the campground. MANY people but you certainly feel like you are with family.
Monday, 20th, I was assigned a W/E site that afternoon. Again, Jenny and I nestled into our site. "Progress" I thought!
Tuesday, 21st, I was able to move to a full hook-up site that a.m. YEAH! Then, I was visited by Norris who assigns your schedule for bay work. He said not to expect a bay until next Monday....maybe Friday. So the wait is own. I enjoyed making many more new friends...learning about what they are having done and what up-grades have been done already. Very interesting to note that several are full-timers. WOW! I asked questions to learn for the future travels when we can travel anytime...or...all the time.
Wedneday went by and then Thursday late morning I got a phone call to go to Express Bay #8. I quickly put things up, unplugged, started up the engine and off I went in about 15 minutes. First thing they started on was to replace 4 windows. Three were completed and work hours were over. I was asked to arrive next morning, Friday, at 7:10 a.m., same Bay. Yikes, EARLY FRIDAY, but YEAH! One of the workers came over (whom did past updates on rig) and said he had a leather sofa to replace the cloth sofa if interested. I was! Broke camp again and went to his shop in little downtown Red Bay.
Friday, I got up at 5:30, showered, put my make-up on and had to wake Jenny up. She was still under the covers! Silly dog! Express Bay #8 here we come! Work began and 3 hours later, with most of the work done, I had to leave so next rig could arrive. They said I would be worked in next wk! OH, MY! That meant I still had to come back, go to another bay for Air Bags, and go to another city for the alignment. Glad I have another week. Well, I got back to my site and was in the process of fixing lunch, when I got a Bay phone call. "Come to Bay 42 now for the Air Bag repair." You should have seen me FLY getting things put up in breaking camp. Bay 42, here I come! Air Bags & Air Tank were fixed. Back to site and set up camp (again) and Mike arrived for wkend!
Weekend: We enjoyed the short wkend. Introduced Mike to many others here (who were amazed that I was handling this alone)and we just enjoyed our time together. Mike left Sunday morning, today. Did thorough fall cleaning in rig while 3 loads of wash were going. Jenny and I walked a bit and visited her little friends as well as my friends.
Well, this brings this writing upto date. I now am facing my 2nd week. Sure hope all gets done soon and I will be on my way home sooner than expected.

Until then.......

Time to Catch Up!

Whew! Where have I been? Some of you have asked that question. Well, I've been around and around. I am going to do my best to catch up on old news, but new news for you readers.

August: The first week was the last week of summer vacation for the grandkids. I had them for a day or two. Our grandson, Chad, was glad to see school start for he is playing FOOTBALL with the 7th and 8th team. Our other grandson, Paul, is in the Marching Band and plays each Friday night. Then there is Cara and Katelyn. They are both back in dance for the year. Cara is taking 3 nights each week for lessons. Katelyn takes lessons at school.

We hosted our Good Sam Chapter camp out at Cages Bend Campground in Gallatin. Lovely setting on Old Hickory Lake.

The Quilt Expo Show was held at Opryland Hotel. I really enjoyed the 2 days I spent there. Mike and I even took in the Professional Bull Riding Rodeo with our friends, Paul & Katy.

September: This was another busy month. Our business participated in the Remodeling Home Show. Our friends, Vic & Rita, were in it also. Lot of neat things to see...and...buy! Mike and I attended the AL Good Sam Samboree held in Talladega. We were gone Sunday thru Sunday. That put us out in our RV for the year a total of 122 days. After we got home from the Samboree, we left the following weekend for Nassau, Bahamas, for 4 days. Had the pleasure of taking 2 couples from our sales force. They and their wives enjoyed the trip, especially with the stay at Atlantis!

Each Tuesday night we went to the Football Jr High games. Chad has played some in the last few minutes of games. Next year when he is in 8th grade will be the exciting year for him....more play!!

These last 2 months have been very busy for both Mike and the business and I with just all that is going on in everyday life.

Will post the final for October later and then I should be caught up!

Until then.....

Home...again

We are home earlier than planned due to a death of a spouse of a dear couple. His funeral is today.

Crossville was very restful, COOL weather (being higher altitude), and enjoyed the surroundings. Having taken in 2 plays at the Cumberland County Playhouse, visited a quilt store, ate, bought discounted books at the Book Cellar, ate, visited the 2 winerys, antique store, ate, and watched the "longest yard sale" people set up their stands along Hwy 127. As you see we enjoyed everything including the eating!!

There is a neat campground called Spring Lake RV Resort (formerly Roam and Roost). The new owners have added many more sites on the back side of the lake....nice long sites. The front sites are shaded and back sites are full sun. The lake has paddle boats and fishing. At this time they had the sites open, even though they are not 100% finished. Very nice place to have a chapter outing.

Well, we hoped to have 100 days logged by end of July. We did it, with 106 days out in the RV...end July. Last year we were out less than this year already.

Now that we are home, I am going to settle in and do more piece quilting. Mike has a lot of books to read....he bought 11 which completes his series on the auther of John Grisham.

So...Until then........

Crossville...It Is!

We arrived safe and sound yesterday in Crossville. We are staying at the Bean Pot Campground. Traveling from Chatty to Crossville was breathtaking! We stayed off the interstate and traveled over Walden Ridge to Hwy 127 to Crossville. There were ridges (plateus) on both sides of us. The valley was awesome!! Eastern TN is just beautiful.

This town is very interesting. Cooler temps than Nashville area due to the 2000+ ft elevation.

There is a rather large RV dealership, TN Outdoors RV Center, that is next to I-40 at our exit. Also, we went to an RV living community. Quite interesting. If you have been to FL, you know what I am talking about. However, this is duplex homes with RV and vehicle garages. Very nice concept of living with common interest among the people.

Also, checked in on some other RV campgrounds. Really like Spring Lake RV Resort which is 3.6 miles from I-40 going toward Fairfield Glades. The new owners have added several sites in back of the lake. Very, very nice!

Did you know that Crossville is the "Golf Capital of TN"? It has 11 golf courses.

Also, the Cumberland County Playhouse is located here. We went there tonight and will go again tomorrow afternoon.

Enjoying our stay and will write more later.

Until then....

Travel'n On

Hi, everyone! Here we go again. What a wonderful long weekend at Chester Frost Park. This place is absolutely beautiful. The weekend was packed with families and was still a quiet place to be. Loved watching the water and the many boats, especially the jet skis. I missed having ours, but decided to sell them a couple years ago.

We took a drive to Benton, TN, where Black Bear Cove Park is located. Wanted to check it out and see if it was of interest to go there. An absolute breathtaking view of the mountains. Its location was a little off for us with some water activities being somewhat further away....like water rafting!!

We became book-worms over the weekend along with long walks which Jenny would encourage us to put the books down and "lets go walking."

We are heading out this morning. I believe we may head to Crossville. We'll see and you'll know when we get to where finally parked!

Until then.....

Chester Frost Park

As you see, we are back on the road again!

Ever been to Chattanooga? Hixson? what about Chester Frost Park? We left home yesterday, Friday, to go to the eastern side of TN in the areas of Chattanooga to Knoxville. That puts one at the western edge of the Smokie Mtns.

We are stopping at Chester Frost Park, a Hamilton County Facility, in Hixson (Chattanooga), TN. It sits along the Chickamauga Lake. All 400+ sites have view of the lake. It is an extremely well maintained park by the county with 30/50 amp and water. No reservations. We have stayed here before and this is the first time for a summer stay. Not bad at all. Our site is very spacious and full view of one side of the lake. For $18.57 night, this is a very neat park to stay in! They also have shelter houses to rent, a beach area, and of course boat ramps. Imagine that!

We have no particular plans. Sitting here sipping coffee deciding whether we want to stay in TN or venture into NC or GA. Decisions, decisions! However, we love the mountains and water. So wherever we roam to next, we will have both or one of these loves.

Until then......

TN Sunshine Travelers July Campout

DEFEATED CREEK PARK in Carthage, TN is where our chapter of Good Sam camped last weekend. This was our first time at this wonderful park. Highly recommend this COE park...many sites that were full sun to shady and very spacious. We were blessed to have our State Director and his wife, Terry & Betty Minger, to camp with us along with 3 grandchildren from two other members. Our chapter had 9 couples and that made a total of 23 people. We were blessed to have another couple camping near us to join us in some meals and our Sunday devotional service.

One thing for sure, no TWO things for sure: 1)it was HOT, and 2) the FOOD was PLENTIFUL!! We had lakeside camping with a beautiful view of the large lake.

Some of us arrive early before the weekend and some stay days after the Sunday dismissal. Good Sam chapter camping is awesome. The "3 F's" were in full force... FOOD, FELLOWSHIP, AND FUN!

Everyone left anxious for next month's camping which will be at Cage's Bend COE in the Hendersonville/Gallatin area August 15-17.

Until then.....

Back Home

What a wonderful time away over July 4th....a long weekend at Tunica, MS. The Mid-South RV Park was a great place to stay. We took books to read; I worked on a quilt (hand-stitching the binding on); and we played some Black Jack. Saturday we enjoyed Terry & Betty Minger's visit and ate a buffet luncheon at the Sheriton Casino. Great food!! The weather treated us very kindly considering we were to have rain. Jenny enjoyed her many walks.

Several RVers came in. One of our neighbors was from OK and they had their FMCA plate on the back of their rig. We looked up their names...just happened to eat breakfast at the same place the next morning. Mike greeted them by name and were they shocked! A few days later he came over to rig and ask how we knew their names. He was still in awe!! We told him we had the FMCA membership book and looked up their membership number. He laughed and said he never thought of using his book. We have fun doing that on our travels. It is fun to see the shocked faces when we call them by name! lol

We arrived home safe on Sunday, 6th. Of course, today, Monday, was back to work for Mike and back to laundry and....well, you know the rest of the story.

Our next trip out will be with our Good Sam chapter, TN Sunshine Travelers, on July 17-20. So, until then......

Been on the Road Again, Again, and Again

I guess I better update my travels since I last posted on Father's Day. As I last wrote we were in Pigeon Forge for a week. Celebrated our 41st Anniversary there and went to the Smith Brothers Show. It was a great time and we stayed at River Plantation....great RV Park! Left out on Thursday, 6/19, for home to go to our granddaughter's dance recital at TPAC, downtown Nashville. To her surprise she received an award placque in Hip Hop!

Next day (Fri), we became restless because it was the end of our interrupted vacation. So we started thinking...thought some more...and...came up with a plan! Let's take off to Tunica, MS, and see the casinos and check out the RV Parks. So we called our friends, Vic & Rita, early Sat. morning and proposed the plan to them to ride down with us. We met them by 1:00 p.m. and we were OFF!! Had a great time and of course we tried to find an excuse to call in sick for Monday morning. Couldn't come up with a good game plan!

Next on our agenda was to plan for next wkend. This came about because our son traded in his TT for a Class B (looks like a Class C) and wanted to take off and see what he could put on the "punch list". Ha! So we made reservations at Caney Creek RV Resort in Harriman, TN. We stayed there going to Pigeon Forge and liked the Resort enough to go back. With the pool, that kept all the grandkids (4) entertained. A very pleasant wkend.

That now puts our June travels to an end. We were out in the RV for 23 days in June. WOW! We loved every minute of it. I keep a calendar in the RV and post our days out and thus far we have logged 90 days out this year at the end of June.

Well, we are now looking at the 4th of July wkend. Just had to plan something again. RIGHT now, Wednesday, July 2, we are parked at Mid South RV Park in Tunica, MS. Looks like we'll log another 5 days on the calendar! We put out a fleece call to some friends to come join us....we'll see who shows up! Don't you love "last minute" notices!!??

I will do my best to post again soon. BUT, at least know that we are somewhere out there!!

Until then......

Father's Day in Pigeon Forge

Happy Father's Day to all who have logged in today. Even though we are away from our family on this day, we celebrate our togetherness, happiness, and love each day!

Yesterday we went to Townsend and along the way on Wears Valley Road was a new RV Resort in the early development stages. These sites are "for sale" and set in the valley with the georgous mountains as the backdrop! WOW! What beauty! Last night we went to a show "Magic Beyond Belief" and was very good. During the intermission Terry Evanswood, the magician, came out and spoke to us about the Lord. What a fulfilling spiritual enjoyment to hear the audience clap and hear some "amens"!

Early this a.m. we moved across the road to a concrete site with the backyard area overlooking the waterway. Today is party cloudy and the rain we had last evening was enough to water grass and plants and refresh the earth.

Have been listening to the news about Tim Russert's death. We were shocked and always enjoyed him on Meet the Press and all his many interviews.

Looking forward to another day of whatever goes!

Until then......

Pigeon Forge Retreat

Well, it didn't take long for us to recoup from the Samboree, do some work, and head out again for a mini vacation in the Great Smokey Mtns. Well....Pigeon Forge area. Actually, we are going to enjoy our 41st Anniversary while here. We are staying in Sevierville at the River Plantation RV Park. We just plan on doing some R&R, catch a couple shows, and probably sightsee around.

Left Thursday and spent the night at Caney Creek RV Resort in Harriman, TN. What a beautiful place!! They are continuing their development/expansion. All sites are concrete pads with most of them by the lakeside. MANY trails to walk, pool, laundry room, shuffle board, beach volleyball, kids playground, 2 boat docks, and a fishing ramp. It is gated so security is great. We will definitely be back to spend more time. For those of you who love to be on the water or fish, this is an excellent place. The boat ramp is just a short drive which you can see from the resort across the lake.

Today, we arrived at River Plantation. Fixed lunch and then watched our Netflix movie, "The Bucket List". Took ourselves and Jenny for a long walk. The weekend Flea Market is open (sits next to I-40) so we may venture over there and then go back to Bass Pro across the interstate.

Well, now you know where we are and that we are back to traveling. So stay tune ... to keep up with the Smiths!!

Until then....

Back Home & Rested

Hi, everyone! The TN Spring Samboree is over and what a great time it was! Of course, everything comes to an end and all saying our good-byes and wondering when we will meet again. It was HOT but thank the good Lord for the constant breeze we had. All of us were exhausted and came home tired...from the heat, activities, responsibilities, and just "plain ole tired"!!

I did do some laundry Sunday and finished the rest Monday. I still need to laundry the RV bedding and clean up the RV. BUT, that will come later.

Our next TN Samboree will be in Jackson in October. Before that will be the AL Samboree in September. Hopefully, after Jackson will be able to head to the MS Samboree. For those of you reading this, I encourage you to attend other state Samborees. They are fun and what wonderful people you meet who become your friends!

Our theme "Wild, Wild West" was a success! There was a local Saddle Club that came for 4 days and added "the touch" to our theme. Not only riding their horses, but there was a mule and a buggy. Many enjoyed the rides and especially the children in attendence. One lady dressed in her indian maiden dress. The riders stayed focused on our theme and seemed to really enjoy being with us.

Of course, when in Lebanon one must eat at the Sunset Restaurant. Can't find any better place to get home cooked meals and homemade pies and banana pudding!

Mike and I do look forward to any comments you post. As we travel, we like to post and let you know what is going on with the Smiths while traveling. We did cancel our trip to Cheyenne, WY, rodeo in July. Gas prices REALLY makes one stop and put priorities in place. SO keep checking back and see what might be written. Short trips will be added to this post.

Until then......

TN Samboree Time

Here it is Saturday and our plans were to head out Sunday for TN Samboree Staff arrival. But, it was going to rain later today and Sunday, and we just had our RV washed. So what do we do....get up usual time (5:45 a.m.)and decide to leave before or by 11:00 a.m. We did.....of course, there were 3 loads of washing to do, clothes ironed, bills paid, mail to get out, pack the remaining items in RV, dishes to wash besides the dishwasher to load, and a few other things. Guess what? It didn't rain!! We'll see what happens Sunday!

What a great time one has at the TN Samboree, both Spring & Fall.

Will come back and post in a few days. In the meantime, sure hope to see a lot of you out there at the Samboree. If you haven't registered, just pack your rig and "come on", you can pay when you get here.

Until then.....

Slow as a Snail

Talk about being behind! Boy, do I have some "ketchup" to do!! From my last post which was the first day at the AL Samboree, I stayed busy the rest of the time. Those who have attended any Samboree know what I am talking about. Well, for now, I will use this as my excuse for not being current on my posting.

The AL Samboree was terrific! It was fun, had a blast, met a lot of new people, established more friends, saw old (or ole) friends, ate, bought things (didn't win anything - pooh!), got a few "winks" in, walked with the early walkers, put Jenny in the Dog Show (she won First, and 2-Thirds!!), ate a DQ, shopped at the nearby Flea Market, attended seminars....shall I go on??!! I think you get the picture of just how boring it was -- LOLs! We even took a trip to the E.R. at hospital with another couple whose spouse was having some issues. Hopefully all is well and under control by their local hometown Dr.

Four other rigs joined our TN State Director and his wife in attendence. I believe FL had the most on out-of-state attendence.

Going to say "HI" to Rosemary, JD & Ann, Terry & Betty, Quentin & Linda, AL Clan that knows Jenny, Bill & Molly, and Jerry & Lila!

We arrived back home on Sunday, 4/20. Tired and exhausted we were! That being last week, we dove into a busy and hectic schedule for the entire week. We were so tired...again!! Probably, no one has done this, but when this past Saturday came and after we attended our granddaughter's soccer game...got home and CRASHED!! Slept almost all afternoon and went to bed early!! I sure did enjoy it!!

I sure do enjoy my/our travels in our motorhome. As you know, I post when on the road again. Right now, I'm still home, so.....

Until then.....

All Settled In

We arrived early Monday and got settled into our site. Beautiful facilities. For those of you who don't know how far south Dothan is...only 13 miles from FL State Line. We went with some friends to Panama City yesterday. They toured us around some of the Harbors of the St Andrews Bay. Naturally, we had to eat! So we ate at this neat, quaint seafood restaurant. Very good!

Today is our last day of rest!! However, the day is planned with fellowship, fun, and food...the Good Sam way!

Until then.....

AL Samboree

I forgot to close out our last road trip. Sorry!

We are back on the road again heading for the AL Samboree in Dothan. Left on Saturday and spent the night in Montgomery and Sunday night in Ozark. Went to the Flea Market and bought some fleas!! Ha! Not really, if you believed that, but did get some items for Ebay.

Looking forward to seeing many of our friends as we arrive tomorrow, Monday.

Until then....

Rally in Perry, GA

Greetings, from Perry!

From last post, Mike and I met in Cullman, AL, and journeyed to Gadsen, AL, to stay a few days at the Nocculula Falls Campground. What a beautiful place. Campground is beside the falls and sets on pennisula like with two gorges on each side. The sound of the
ushing waters was sooo relaxing. The Falls is a must to see...90' falls and the place where the indian maiden jumped to her death on her wedding day. Of course, in the background of the falls, you can occassionaly hear Sheila, the lioness, roaring early a.m. and late evening.

We spent Tuesday night, March 11, in Columbus, GA at Lake Pines Campground which is 80+ miles west of Perry. Got up early and arrived today at the Perry Fairgrounds at 7:30 a.m. Looking forward to the Good Sam Club Rally.

Hi, Rosemary!!
Hi, Terry & Betty!!

Looking forward to seeing others here. Our friends, Vic and Rita, arrived an hour later and parked a few sites from us. There will be thousands of RVers attending the Rally.

Until then......

Back on the Road ... to AL then GA

Its been awhile since the last post mainly because we have been home doing what you do when at home. Work, stay busy, work, stay busy!

Between TX in January to now, we have been out in the Allegro Bus only to take it to Red Bay and get a few details added along with some minor repairs. Can one ever buy a RV without some follow-up repairs?!?! Well, guess where I am? You guessed it ... Back at Red Bay. But its a good thing!! I am here alone and probably for the week to be worked in. Mike will be joining me at the end of the week. We will then head to the Perry, GA National Good Sam Rally. Looking forward to the Rally. So much to see, do, and learn!! WOW!

Jenny and I arrived and got all set up here at Tiffins Campground. The place is almost full! Meeting a lot of great folks.

Bought a broadband air card. Works fine here. I simply love it!

While in TX, our friends, JD and Ann, helped me set up Ebay for selling. I am enjoying it so much. Brought some of the items with me and will be shipping while here. It's neat to have e-friends as customers.

Best close for now. So until then......

Home Sweet Home

We are home! Can't find anything around the house; too use to motorhome surroundings. Guess we better "hit the road again". Ha!
Had a great time and enjoyed posting for your enjoyment!
Will post when next trip comes around.
Until then.....

Red Bay, AL

Here we are staying at the Allegro Campground. For those who are not RV knowledgable, this is the Home Office and Manufacturing Plant of the Allegro Motorhomes. We toured the plant today and saw how ours and all the other Allegros are made. Very interested to see all the assembly lines. They put out 13 daily.
Last night we helped a couple look for their lost Yorkie. Still this morning they were looking and hoping. Later this afternoon, they found her. Right in their motorhome....she fell behind their sofa and couldn't get out. Happy, happy parents they were!!
It's quite cold here of nights and cool enough in the day. Sounds like we are heading into very coldddd weather when heading home this week.
It's been a very fun, relaxing, and educating trip for us. Sure hate to see it all come to a close.
However, until then.....

Overnight in MS

Texas is now behind us. Enjoyed the stay at Galveston. Left 5:50 a.m. and drove approx. 30 miles to end of island to board Ferry for the 15 minute ride across. WOW! That was exciting...HUGE ships/vessels all around...water splashing up over the bow and onto RV. RV was a soaked toad but not us! After logging 439 miles today, we have settled in for the night in Jackson/Byram, MS and watching the NFL games.
Next stop will be Red Bay, AL.
Until then....

Arrived in Galveston

The trip from Port A to Galveston was beautiful. Miles of shoreline along the Gulf and miles of farmland to enjoy. We are parked across the highway from the gulf and just a few miles from downtown Galveston. Will sightsee tomorrow and learn more about this historic town and ports. Until then.....

Final Day at Port A

Today we close out our stay here at Port A. Leaving tomorrow early for Galveston having mapped our travel along the coast.

Port A leaves alot of memories....island stay, friends, dolphins, ferry, moorings, great restaurants, ocean breeze, jelly fish washed up on shore, many fishing boats (both pleasure and commercial), line dancing with the ladies at the Presby church hall, many walks both in resort, town, and beach, vehicles on beach, and to watching the ducks on the lakefront swim under the water and pop up in a different location. Many memories both on the island and inland.

Supper was great tonight....with our friends....sitting around the table with a plateful of king crab legs.....oh, so delicious!!

We have enjoyed living in our MH and having it parked facing the waterfront. The landscaping at each of these sites is absolutely beautiful.

It is interesting how paths cross when meeting people. People from back home, state, or whatever or wherever that relates to ones past. We met a couple who came in last evening a few sites down from us...from Brentwood and his son owns a restaurant in Ashland City which our Good Sam Chapter will be having their luncheon there this month. Met another couple from TN. All GS members but not involved in a chapter. There was the open door....to share the beauty of being involved in a chapter. I do have some followup to do later with them when back home.

Everytime out we learn something. Did you know that putting a bar of Ivory soap under your fitted bed sheet eliminates leg aches?? (Of course, you need to sleep in the bed--LOL!) They say it works!

Have enjoyed posting here in Port A. Wonder where the next location will be? I know it will have to be where I can connect to WiFi!!

Until then.....

A Sightseeing Day

Gone most of the day. First stop was to pick up Ann & JD, our tour guides. The trip now begins with a stop in Port A at a well hidden, one room Catholic Church sitting on a hill surrounded by brush. Very neat to peak in the windows and see the 6 benches among the decor painted walls. This is privately owned and used for small weddings, etc. One would never find this or know of this church...only a resident knows of it...not advertised at all.
I believe yesterday I mentioned in my post about a $1.75 lunch. Oh, boy, was it good. The long line of waiting was well worth it. We then went to an antique barn which the entrance was lined with painted old bikes used as the fence. Heading northward we drove the shoreline into the neighboring small towns. The bays, pelicans, live oak trees, and fishing boats were awesome. The boats were coming in with loads and loads of oysters. Mike's mouth was watering! At the end of the tour was a huge (did I say HUGE) oak tree. We drove what seemed like a country road along the bay shoreline and then .... there it was!! Unbelievable!
For those of you who really know us, our last stop was at the DQ back in Port A. Oh, while we were crossing the ferry, the large casino ship was coming in with the day cruise ending. It goes 9 miles out to the international waters and then the action begins.....so we are told.
Tomorrow, I get a crash course on Ebay selling by JD.
As you see, life does stay busy when away from home. Until then.....

Beautiful Day

Weather is great! Food is great! Scenery is great! Looks like everything is great, great!!
Sunday was a trip to town, Corpus Christi, and a Flea Market. Also, we were toured thru downtown and the shoreline by our friends, Ann and JD. A wrong turn took us pass the USS Lexington which is open to the public. Came back to our RV and cooked a late lunch and watched the Titans....loose. Well, Mike watched while I cleaned up my 1950 Featherweight Singer Machine.
Today, I went Line Dancing, got a pedicure, and went to a quilt shop. What a day! Mike decided to stay home and read. Later went out with our friends to the local Pizzeria and had a fabulous pizza buffet. Nothing like this back home. Tomorrow, they are taking us to a place (which we will cross by ferry) that is "all you can eat" for $1.75 per person (chicken fried steak, chicken livers and gizzards with all the trimmings). As you read this, you will see that there is no such thing as dieting!!
My friends and family, please feel free to post your comments. We do enjoy reading them as you read ours.
Until then.....

Line Dancing

It is 11:00 a.m. and just returned from Line Dancing at the local church fellowship hall. Legs are feeling it...a little...body forgot to move on some of the turns!!
The WiFI local service was down for about 18 hrs due to 2 towers being down. Without internet service and no ATT wireless, I felt lost and stranded. Thank goodness for Mike's phone.
The temps are starting to rise. Yeh! It's been cold here, also. This wkend will have 70's and will enjoy the walks on the beach. The wind makes it quite chilly most of the time.
We are meeting some friends for lunch, JD and Ann Hodges, who are a part of the Good Sam Club. Met them in MS. They teach line dancing at the Samborees.
Jenny is very content. As most of you know, she loves to travel and feels at home whether in the RV or at Home.
Quilts are done. Have installed some software programs...have a couple more to install. Plan to work on my FW221 machine.
Will post later. Bye!

New Year's Day in Port Aransas

We have arrived and settled into our RV site a few days ago. Port Aransas, TX is a beautiful island, formerly known as Mustang Island. Sits across from Corpus Christi and runs the entire length of the Gulf down to Brownsville. Today has been very relaxing. Weather is cool and windy. Good day for football and homemade beef stew and cornbread. (now you know what we did) Jenny is enjoying the walks on the beach.

When we arrived here at Port A, we boarded a Ferry to arrive to the island. What an experience!

I brought along 2 quilts to finish putting binding on. One will be to snuggle into and enjoy. Mike is reading and studying.

We plan to travel on the beach via car. You see lots of cars joy riding as well as stopped for fishing. Speaking of fish, we have had a few excellent restaurant meals with seafood. Enjoyed!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR..... will add more later.
